Plan your visit to Virunga
VISA
The visa is only valid in combination with a Virunga National Park Permit and will not be processed if acquired without a park permit. Please be aware that Virunga National Park strives at sending back an approval within 7 days, however the visas are processed by the DRC immigration service not by Virunga National Park, therefore Virunga National park cannot make any guarantees on processing time. Please send in your visa applications as soon as possible to visa@gorilla.cd
Gorillas
Make a day visit to the Virunga Mountain Gorillas, hike through the forest and spend an hour with these gentle giants. We can arrange transport to one of our three gorilla sites from Goma (Rwanda border) and from Bunagana (Uganda border). Basic permanent tents are available for rent at our Bukima camp.
Nyiragongo Volcano
You can climb the Nyiragongo volcano and spend the night in one of our shelters at the top, or if you prefer you can hike down on the same day. We recommend an overnight stay as the lava lake is very impressive in the dark. Bring raingear, warm clothes, and some cash for the porters.
